Reflecting on recent posts from the “Life as a CPA” series, I am reminded of why I became active in advocating the profession and sharing my experience. While connecting with CPAs at conferences, partner events and society meetings, and mentoring upcoming CPAs, I am inevitably asked variations of the following questions:
- How did you get involved in working with the AICPA, both as a speaker and as part of its committees?
- What channels are there for CPAs to give back to their profession?
- What do you get out of being involved in the CPA profession? How does it benefit you?
Before we dive into the next blog series, I thought it would be nice to take a short break and address these fundamental questions.
To my CPA colleagues: I hope these postings will inspire you to reflect and muse over your early years in the profession. I would love to hear your anecdotal stories and welcome your guest blog posts sharing your experience and advice.
p.s. Much thanks to Akshay Shrimanker for the initial inspiration for these posts.
