My conference season this year began with a visit to the Arkansas Society of CPAs‘s Emerging Leaders “Catfish and CPE” event. It was fun for me to share the story of how I went from “Donny Shimamoto” to “donnyitk”, as I taught over 40 emerging leaders in Little Rock, AR how to leverage the CPA brand to build their personal brand.
One of the great things about being a CPA is that we have the CPA brand itself to use as a strong and distinguished foundation from which to build our personal brands. Many people feel that in order to keep the exclusive feel of the CPA that we need to be, well, stately and boring. I disagree. I think that we can have a brand that incorporates more fun and excitement, while maintaining the prestige of the CPA.
